Bill Shields

William "Bill" Shields is a Managing Director in the Real Estate Finance Group of Manulife. Based in Boston, Bill leads the Closing Team, Investment Services, and Private Markets Team. He also serves as a relationship manager for Manulife’s commercial mortgage funding sources and facilitates the expansion of lending programs into new markets.

Bill began his career in commercial real estate as an Investment Associate with Criimi Mae. He then joined MetLife as a Portfolio Manager where he was responsible for both originating loans and overseeing a portfolio of restructured loans. Thereafter, he was a member of the acquisitions team at Davis Marcus Partners in Boston with the responsibilities of identifying new equity investments and preparing private placement offerings for real estate backed securities.

Bill holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Providence College and a Masters of Business Administration Degree from the University of Connecticut. He is a volunteer instructor of industry classes sponsored by the Mortgage Bankers Association.
